Facebook has been busy sending out invitations to a November 3rd Facebook Mobile event without giving any additional information as to what it will be about. Considering the recent Facebook Phone rumors that have been circulating, many folks are speculating that it might be the announcement of such a phone, though you can bet that many folks are still skeptical that Facebook will be coming up with its own phone. Of course, it could be that Facebook is introducing something like a new mobile application that will make accessing Facebook even easier than it already is on your phone, and the possibilities are endless. The good news is that we've only got a few days to wait, so stay tuned and we'll keep you updated on what's happening!

Wireless Charging System For EV

Electric Vehicles (EVs) have taken one step forward in terms of usability as a start-up business, HaloIPT, has recently launched what it touts as the world's first market-ready wireless charging system for electric cars. The system is making its debut over in London and allows a car to be fitted with a simple integrated receiver pad to charge it automatically when parked or driven on roads with HaloIPT's special charging pads beneath the surface. The company claims that the technology could increase EV range by "electrifying" motorways. If this means that we'll be able to continue juicing our EVs while making long distance trips, it's definitely something that we hope gains mass adoption.

We've seen Google's Android OS being installed on tablets, cell phones, TVs and many other devices, but what about robots? An Android robot is being showcased, touted as the world's first life-sized robot that runs on Android, though it's strange to call the Android mascot "life-sized". The robot is about four feet tall and can walk on its two legs, not to mention moving its hands and head with fifteen degrees of freedom. Upon opening the round head, you'll see the onboard controller and the brain of the robot is an Armadillo 500FX chipset, installed with the Android OS. An operator will be able to remotely control the robot by sending signals over Wi-Fi from any Android-powered device such as a cell phone or PDA. The 14kg robot is stable enough to support a range of peripherals that includes lights, sounds, music, sensors, actuators and more. You can check out a video of this robot in action after the jump.
