Apple has announced that they will be banning the practice of “incentivized app installs”. For awhile now we’ve been seeing a huge number of apps that ask users to download another app to enable more options or features in the current app they are using but all that is coming to an end. Developers have been using this feature to get people to download their other apps (especially new ones) in an effort to boost ratings on the App Store.
Obviously Apple isn’t too happy with this practice as it falls into the category of manipulating an app’s chart rankings in the App Store. This has led to the rise of new, unknown apps rising to the top of the charts when people aren’t even downloading the app to use it. Looks like your next free-to-play game on iOS won’t get you to install apps you don’t need. This is one restriction on the App Store that I think people will welcome. How do you feel about incentivized app installs?

The pocketnow team really seems to be on a roll. They’ve gotten their hands on yet another leaked press shot, and this time it’s of the LG Revolution. LG’s upcoming Android phone for Verizon will join the ranks of the HTC ThunderBolt and Samsung Droid Charge as Verizon’s third 4G LTE-capable phone. With the date displayed on the phone’s press shot as May 25 ? that may be the day we’ll see the phone being released or officially announced but nothing has been confirmed as of now.
The LG Revolution is one of the most awaited Verizon phones this year, as it might be the first Android phone to support Netflix. After all, you gotta make use of that 4G connection right? Hopefully we’ll discover more details in the coming weeks.

In a press conference tonight, Sony has just announced that the PlayStation Network and its Qriocity services will be back up starting next week. The PSN has been down for over a week now, ever since Sony decided to temporarily disable it to prevent further external intrusions and to patch things up on the network.
Many people have been upset over not being able to use the PSN service and have been complaining online on forums and blogs, demanding that Sony compensate for the downtime. Well it sure looks like Sony has heard the community and will be rewarding PSN users with a “Welcome Back” program.
