The idea of a bag with a solar panel on it, to power your gadgets, is naturally super-appealing, but the prices can take the juice out of your motivation. So if you could simply take a £30 solar panel and laminate it beautifully to the outside of a bag you already have, would that help? Maybe the one you spilled coffee on and which could only be aesthetically enhanced by the addition of a large black oblong of plastic over the offending bit? While the Solar Bag DIY doesn't produce a bag viable for primary power (though it did charge an iPod video from empty), in 6 hours), it does provide convenient and portable power for that array of gadgets that otherwise lie in the dark, slowly draining through the bottom of your pocket.
