Philips has unveiled the world's first DECT phone for Skype that is self-sufficient and does not need a PC to run. The Skype-certified Philips VOIP841 was designed for those who have moved on to VoIP as their main platform of choice when making calls. Since this handset works independently, Skype users can make and receive calls even when they are not in the vicinity of a PC. It will use a 1.8GHz band that will provide better battery life and greater security during your conversations. You can even plug in the VOIP841 into a normal landline connection and use it as a regular house phone. The VOIP841 boasts a 65k full color display that makes scrolling through your list of contacts easy. Expect to see the VOIP841 hit stores nationwide in time for the holiday season.
