
Bluetooth technology hasn't really progressed that much since it debuted many years ago, and most of the time these days it is used more for hands-free devices instead of other more creative uses, though we can't really blame the technology for that due to its inherent limitations. While much better than IR, it does place a strain on the battery, but that could very well change in the future with a new lower power Bluetooth system-on-a-chip design from Texas Instruments that touts over a year of operation using a single button-cell battery.
