Jailbroken iPhones Open To Hack

Jailbroken iPhones Open To Hack

Jailbreaking iPhones is in vogue nowadays, but sometimes people forget that jailbreaking involves tinkering with the phone in ways that Apple didn’t intend it to be tinkered with, and that could leave your iPhone open to the possibility of being hacked. Case in point, several Dutch iPhone owners were sent an unremovable warning message, stating that their iPhones had been hacked, and were given a link to get instructions on how to remove it. The bad news is that the link also requested a meager random fee of €5 ($7). Fortunately the hacker has relented and is currently offering instructions on how to remove the hack. The hack actually is related to SSH being left running after jailbreaking, and people forgetting to change the iPhone’s default root password (which is ‘alpine’). So, should people jailbreak their iPhones? Let us know what you think (via the comments section).
