E-Ink has rolled out a new generation of e-paper cells, being up to 40% thinner and can be bent into other forms such as curves, allowing future devices to come in a wide range of form factors. Not only are they more flexible, they are also of a superior breed so to speak, being able to survive harsher temperatures thanks to its extremely power-efficient designs that make it able to stand more exposure outside. There are no future products to use such a display announced at press time, but E-Ink did mention that companies using their earlier e-paper display technology will be able to receive a custom display within three months' time, which makes the earliest of such devices available this fall. I wonder whether this means there will be new iRex iLiads and Sony Readers in the works?
