The Charlatans latest with download-only album success

The Charlatons are celebrating this week, after the album they made availableas a free download on the XFM website was downloaded 30,000 times. Theever-lovely Tim Burgess is keen to big up the New Music Philosophy in a DownWith The Record Companies Bandwagon statement, saying "I feel we are totallyvindicated with the philosophy that if you go free and make a great record, youcan exceed your dreams. No longer does music have to work in the traditionalmajor-label dominated way."
