AT&T Begins Offering FaceTime Over Cellular Service To Tiered Data Customers

AT&T has always been weird when it comes to allowing its customers to make FaceTime calls over cellular as it previously blocked the ability to use the iOS feature. Since then, the company has been slowly allowing its customers to use FaceTime Over Cellular and is announcing today more of its customers can make FaceTime calls when they’re not connected to Wi-Fi.

AT&T will be making FaceTime Over Cellular available to its customers who have tiered data plans and are using a compatible FaceTime device. Compatible devices are the iPhone 4S and newer, third-generation iPad and newer and the iPad Mini. The update to use FaceTime Over Cellular will be automatic and will be applied in the coming months.

If you’re an AT&T customer who has a grandfathered unlimited data plan, it looks like you’re back on the “Do Not FaceTime” list even though you were previously able to FaceTime back in November. We all know AT&T would like to forget you customers ever existed and will only want to deal with you as long as you’re paying for their tiered data plans.
