Sandisk, more noted for their memory cards than anything else, is dipping their toes into the growing digital media market by delivering TV into your living room via a USB thumbdrive. This dongle does not only enable you to watch TV, it also comes with a bunch of flash memory, a video line-out, and a DRM-enabled video decoder. The USBTV targets those who aren't the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to technology, empowering users to load video onto the USBTV dongle and watching it on the TV, thanks to the built-in video decoder. Trials are currently being held as you read this, so expect the USBTV to hit retail shelves within this year. I guess Sandisk's strategy is to target the critical mass with a two-pronged approach of ease of use and a low entry cost.
