Hacker releases Symantecs source code

Remember the story that hit the wire earlier this morning, where a hacker calling himself YamaTough was negotiating with Symantec concerning a $50,000 blackmail, in order to prevent the source code from being released? That is discovered to be a ruse actually, where YamaTough claimed that he was always going to publish the code – and there were no Symantec employees involved in the alleged email, as law enforcement officers were the ones directing the way the talks went. Guess all of that has gone awry, as the source code of Symantec’s pcAnywhere program has been released – prompting fears that this could result in new malware and viruses that will bypass the program’s defenses.
