Elevators with buttons could soon be replaced by what is known as "destination elevators" - vertically moving human transporters that do not come with any buttons inside. Instead, the passengers are required to enter the floor number on a keypad and are then directed by the display to a particular elevator. This means you can't change your mind to stop on other floors once you have entered the carriage. Real world applications have shown some rather favorable results, with the average wait time currently standing between 20 to 25 seconds instead of a full minute onwards with traditional elevators. Methinks there should at least be a couple of indispensable buttons inside - the emergency button and another for communication with the outside world in case the system breaks down.
