Samsung ATIV S announced

Yesterday, we looked at the possibility of the ‘ATIV‘ name being used for devices from Samsung that ran on the Windows Phone 8 platform, and here we are today with the official word that Samsung had just introduced their first Windows Phone 8 device, calling it the Samsung ATIV S. This will (hopefully) be the first of many other Windows Phone 8-powered hardware, where Samsung claims it is “a superphone that?s equal parts powerhouse and head turner.” Do you think that they are correct? On the outside, you see an extremely slim 8.7mm brushed aluminum chassis that encases a generous 4.8? HD Super AMOLED display which is backed by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 for that added bit of toughness.

Underneath the hood, you will find a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel autofocus camera at the back and a 1.9-megapixel camera up in front – making us think that this could be the Galaxy Note 2 just for a moment. Available in 16GB or 32GB capacities, you can further expand on that thanks to a microSD memory card slot. To make sure the Samsung ATIV S can last throughout the working day, it is equipped with a 2300mAh battery that should last the distance for the average user, although power users would still do well to carry their charger around.
