Youtube banned in Thailand

Unfortunately for Thailand, the military-appointed government has blocked Internet access to Youtube and many other websites that depicts the monarchy in any way other than perfect and peachy-keen. Apparently a video, lasting less than a minute, that shows the King with clownish, painted on features and the image of feet -yes, feet- pasted on his head was considered to be extremely offensive to the government. (Let's be honest, feet can be pretty gross.) Google has refused to delete the video, thus adding to the list of countries, companies, and cities they've managed to piss off in the past few months. Sadly for the rebel who uploaded the clip, insulting King Bhumibol Adulyadej is a criminal offence.

If you're one of our readers in Bangkok, or anywhere in Thailand, my sincere condolences go out to you. I know that Youtube was a great friend of yours, and I'm sure the pain you are feeling in its absence is unmeasurable.
